Our 2016 Ron Schallick Economic Development Award goes to a local company that has a long history, a familiar name and a commitment to our community through investment and job creation. JTM Provisions Company, Inc., located in the City of Harrison is an iconic local brand with an international footprint.
JTM Provisions Company, Inc., better known today as the JTM Food Group, was founded as Maas Brothers Meats in 1960 by Jack Maas, Sr. In 1974, the company was renamed Jack Maas Meats. To reflect the continued growth of the business, in 1980, the company became known by its present name – JTM Food Group.
Since its inception, JTM has been a family business with participating members including JoAnn and Jack, Sr. (Mom and Dad) and their seven children, Jack, Jr., Mike, Mary Lou, Joe, Tony, Kathy and Jerry, in addition to the recent involvement of 15 grandchildren.
Today, JTM Food Group is an international, multi-segmented, forward-thinking, food-processing company still rooted in the same principles of the original butcher shop – quality and value.
HCDC honors JTM for its commitment to growth and economic development in the City of Harrison. When JTM came to HCDC with plans to expand its current facility and then again to construct a new production facility at the site, HCDC facilitated the company’s growth through two enterprise zone agreements with the Hamilton County Commissioners and the City of Harrison.
Through both projects, the company is investing more than $68.2 million and is creating 42 new full-time jobs and retaining 426 full-time jobs in the City of Harrison. HCDC is confident in and excited to watch the continued growth of JTM in Hamilton County.
